Symmetra LX Output Voltage Capabilities

The Symmetra LX can output both 208v or 240v - AND - 120v at all times without the use of a transformer. Using split-phase technology, the Symmetra can also output 240 with only 208v input or vice versa, giving you the ability to power equipment with the correct voltage regardless of site electrical service.

To do this, the Symmetra LX requires a neutral on the input, a change from our legacy Symmetra systems and other 208v UPSs in the field. A missing neutral can cause many problems, including failure to operate or even power on. On start up, if the neutral conductor is not attached, the UPS will usually make a loud clicking noise, while also displaying a "SITE WIRING FAULT" message on the PowerView display. If you experience this, be sure to check all wiring to ensure that the neutral is present.

Be sure to check and follow the Symmetra LX Electrical Installation Guide on our website. A link is below:

Hi fgavarrete, most server type loads dont really know the difference between 208v or 240v. In the case of changeing from one to the other the symmetra LX unit sometimes will temporarily go into bypass in order to make sure the syncing is done correctly. In general I would say this does not require downtime and can be done easliy and on the fly through the powerview display (I have never had a problem with someone's load dropping because of this). Hope this Helps.
