I am using datalogging software on a PC with an APC unit running PowerChute Business Edition 8.0.1.
If I try to just shutdown the PC, there is a prompt "do you want to stop datalogging? Y/N". To shutdown the PC, I need to stop the datalogger program then shutdown.
Is there a way to do this through the command file? If not, is there some other program that can manipulate running applications that I could run from the command file?
For example, let's say you have an Excel file open on a PC. Power goes out. The battery runs low on the UPS. Shutdown is initiated. I want the excel file saved, excel exited, then pc shutdown.
Sounds simple. I searched the web and the forum and could not find what I am looking for.

I have to say I am really surprised.
Am I the only one actually running an application on a PC and using a UPS with powerchute?
So nobody uses a PC with a program running like AutoCad or 3d rendering or FEA software where if the PC is unattended and power is lost they want all applications stopped, saved, and closed before shutdown?
Wow....
