Hello!
I have a strange issue I'm trying to identify. My SmartUPS RT 3000 drops load at any brown/black-out. I have run the Unit's Test manually. Successful. I pull the power cable from the wall, and it cuts to battery successfully. Any time we suffer even a very short brown or black-out, the load drops and my network and server equipment powers off. I can then turn the unit back on and the rack comes back up without an issue.
Any ideas what could be wrong with this thing?
thanks!
-Bill

It's a pretty old unit. No LCD.
I'll see if I can get PowerChute on it and get it connected.
(I'm not sure if the server there has a serial port)
thanks!

Hi Bill -
Is the UPS reporting any faults? Are you using any Powerchute software or a Network Management Card?

Unfortunately neither.
The rack is all network gear + 1 server, and there's no Network management card in the thing.

The easiest way to troubleshoot would probably be to call in to tech support while you are in front of the UPS.
From the LCD screen on the front of the UPS you can get Fault and Event logs as well as load and power details. This should hopefully give enough information to better understand what is happening. It may also be useful to install PowerChute on a temporary basis (if possible) to gather some logs..
