Hi folks,
A bunch of questions, some of which are partially answered elsewhere/answered for other equipment; sorry for the repetition.
I recently picked up a used SmartUPS 700 (DL700; 50.14.D) with the understanding that the batteries supported no runtime and replaced the batteries with fresh. Unfortunately, even after self-testing and waiting until the NMC (AP9617 rev. A10) reports 100% battery charge, runtime calibration reports 0 minutes. I've tried this several times, each time getting the "0 minutes" result, with the NMC reporting that the batteries are discharged.
The intertubes seem to indicate that the battery constant needs to be reset. Is there any way (which I haven't found yet) to do this via the NMC, or do I truly have to cobble together all the ancient serial bits?
If the latter: I have a 940-0127B, a 940-0144A, an RJ45-to-DB9 adapter (pinout unknown), a regular DB9 serial, and a null modem cable. Any chance I can make this work w/o hunting down another cable? If not: Which part number do I need? And are these instructions correct for this unit? https://web.archive.org/web/20130808070735/http://www.joeteck.com/apc-repair.htm
Any advice will be appreciated.
Cheers,
-sth

Hi Sam,
We do not recommend entering battery constant value. We have come across an issue where entering a wrong value has caused the UPS damage. So APC stopped providing the battery constant value. However, we do have the calibration key for this unit to calibrate the runtime. You can request the calibration key from the customer support. They will help you out to ship one for you.
Regards,
Vinay
