I'm getting frustrated here. We have 4 of the same exact UPS models and have had 2 of the batteries show that they need to replaced at nearly the same time. So we went ahead and ordered replacement batteries and installed them today.
The first one did not go well at all. We turned the entire unit off, but it refused to come back on. Even just plugged into street power, it would not power up or anything. We happened to have a spare chassis on hand so we swapped it out. That one worked just fine with the new battery. Unfortunately the other UPS in that cabinet decided to die and we have another battery on order. (It kept giving us the "Critical - UPS: The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately." error)
So then we go to do the second unit in another closet. This one we choose to hot swap because of the critical equipment that is plugged into it. All seemed to go well, but when we got the new battery installed and plugged in, the unit continued to say to replace the battery. We even ran a self test manually, but the light will not go away.
What gives? 3 out of 4 UPS's are dying a quick and annoying death here. Any advice on why the last one still says to replace the battery?

Thanks! That fixed the one. But the other one is still flashing the "Battery Charge" LED's. Any ideas with that?

well you're right in that you need to run a self test to clear a replace battery alarm. if you run one right after replacing the battery, i would maybe wait at least 8 hours and allow them to charge and go ahead and try again. when the UPS does a self test, it compares the voltage drop with the load percentage to see if its out of a certain range. if the battery is not fully charged, this could cause it to fail initially as well.
for any other issues, if you can download the event.txt, data.txt and config.ini, i can help further. http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9321 gives instructions on those. any references to times issues occurred would be helpful too so we can sort this out.
