SmartUPS 1500 RM with Network card - What software and services necessary

Background: We have a SmartUPS 1500 RM with a network card (AP9617 is thing) working with a server running Small Business Server 2003. It also had a USB connection with the server. No APC software / services are currently installed on the server, having recently been uninstalled.

What I want to know is, what software and services do I need to install in order to monitor the UPS and allow the UPS to shutdown the server, etc. if that becomes necessary. Also, can I just disconnect the USB report and just rely on the network card.

HI Peter!

start with installing the APC Device IP Configuration Wizard to apply an IP to your nmc.
Additional configuration can be done with a standard browser afterwards... if it works ( look at my thread.... 😞 )

Also you might want to PowerChute Network Shutdown Utility on your Windows server ,so it is able to shutdown when signalled by your SmartUPS.
