It will not run on battery, but the battery pack shows 26.68V on my DVOM. When the battery is plugged in, it is showing 0V in PowerChute, and PowerChute is giving a hardware failure that the battery is disconnected. The humming is like the sound it would make when on battery, but it is not on battery. It does this any time mains power is hooked up. Did the unit just give up the ghost, or is there something I can repair board-level.

Hi Jeff,
A flashing replace battery indicator means that the UPS has encountered a disconnected battery condition. This is either caused by a faulty battery or the battery sensor itself. If you do have another unit that uses the same battery it is worth to try swapping them. If none is available, you might want to consider replacing the UPS if it is out-of-warranty.
Can you post the first 8 characters of the serial number, we can check what year it was manufactured.
