Hello again,

OK. Thanks for the information.

1.) Your UPS is not up to date. I see UPS 06.1 as the latest version for your UPS, ID23. I'd recommend we upgrade when you can find the time to do so. There are a few different ways to do it but no matter the method you choose, the UPS output power must be turned off to perform the upgrade on the UPS itself. Below are a couple of readings I suggest to become familiar with these options:

  • How do I update the firmware of my SMT, SMX, or SMC series Smart-UPS? | FAQs | Schneider Electric US
  • How do I upgrade my SMT/SMX Smart UPS firmware using my AP9630/AP9631 Network Management Card? | FAQ...

We'd want to see which method you want to do it by after seeing and reading about both and then you'd likely have to schedule some time to do this I imagine. The actual upgrade itself should not take all that long, especially if you do it via the Network Management Card versus serial (or USB if this UPS supports that).

2.) Network Management Card firmware v6.1.1 - you should read this first -> Things To Consider When Upgrading or Downgrading a Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) Device between v... After reading that, some of the highlights are: new Web UI navigation, firewall, multi-user (multiple users of each type and multiple users logged into the card), better support for certain SMT/SMX features, Cisco EnergyWise support, more CLI comands and existing CLI command expansion/additions in functionality. There is also the ability to gather logs from the web interface versus just FTP which is my favorite laughing If you go to APC | Testdrive.apc.com , that URL will bring you to a card we have online so you could check out the interface before committing to upgrade. If you want to upgrade, the firmware is available @ Software / Firmware if you select Firmware Upgrades - Network Management  Card and look for SFSUMX611 as the part number to download. If there are any problems you think you'll have upon upgrading and don't want to proceed, I'll give you v5.1.7 which is not a huge change.

Let me know if you have any questions. Depending on your schedule, it may be easier to try a Network Management Card update first since it would just reboot the network management card but I'd still recommend we get that UPS upgraded soon.

Could you give us the full event.txt, data.txt, and config.ini from your Network Management Card? I know you've provided bits of the event log but I'd also like to see the data log and the configuration, if possible.

Instructions are here in retrieving the files -> How can I download Event, Data, Configuration, and Debug files from my Network Management Card? | FA...

Thanks!

Thank you. A lot of those messages look strange and only around one time did it appear the UPS actually went to battery or reported a change in load indicating it turned off, per the data log. Otherwise, the data log all looks normal so that's why I want to ask - can you confirm that when the UPS reports that its outlet groups are turning off that your equipment really is losing power? Or do you think it is erroneous messages?

The other thing I'd like to verify - in the web itnterface, can you go to UPS->About and tell me what you see for the firmware versions and then ID it lists there?

I would like to see if that UPS is up to date or not. I know on the Network Management Card, you're one version away from a very stable v5.1.7 (or even we have v6.1.1 out which contains a many major new changes) but I think this is more something with the UPS. Either way, I might suggest we try v5.1.7 sumx firmware on your NMC (which I can provide) or v6.1.1 if you're interested and want me to highlight the new changes for you since what is happening in the log is a little "sketchy," A lot of theses events all also have the same timestamp when I would not expect them to.

Anyway, let's see what the firmware is on your UPS and see if it is worth trying an upgrade. I am interested to hear though that if anyone has been near the UPS when these messages were reported to see what the UPS was really doing or if you know your equipment lost power for sure.

Thanks!
