Are you using the supplied RJ50 - RS232 Serial cable and the FUW?!?

Yes, of course. I don't need any RS232 serial cable for SSH/HTTP/HTTPS.

Your reply is still not clear so will rephrase the question. Are you using the supplied APC RJ50 - RS232 Serial Cable to connect directly and communicate with the target device?!?
Updating the UPS Firmware any other way is a disaster waiting to happen and will result in a bricked system.
So to be crystal clear do not attempt to flash update the UPS Firmware using the NMC, USB!
What is the current state of the system now? Is it still fully operational or is the LCD blank or is none responsive?!?
Provide a photo of the LCD and what is displayed.

According to the release notes of firmware SRT1013, changes to protect the UPS firmware code have been implemented in version 15.0. Is this the reason why all network-based methods are no longer supported?
Current state: The UPS operates without any detectable errors.
The supplied cable consists of an RS232 socket (9 pin) and a jack plug (3 pin). This connection basically works, but firmware updates are not possible. The same behavior occurs as with SSH.
Thanks for any advise.

Yes, all network serial related connections has been disabled until either the interim firmware or last release is installed.
Once installed the following ports can be enabled / disabled based on user needs: USB, NMC, Serial via the LCD Menu.
Suggest you use the LCD Menu to see if this option is available and enable serial connection to the RJ50 port.
If the toggle option is not present than this RJ50 port should still be active and enabled for direct communications.
As a reminder, all other connections must be removed including the NMC from the system as outlined in the APC Firmware FAQ.
Meaning no USB connection to PCSS, PCBE, etc. NMC is hot swappable so you can just remove the two screws and eject. If the NMC is embedded than simply disconnect the Ethernet cable from the NMC.
Only connection should be to a dedicated laptop properly configured per the APC FAQ. Wired directly to the laptop and on the back of the RJ50 Serial Port.
NOTE: Some units have a RJ45 Port that is / was covered by a black plug. This is (NOT) the Serial Port but was intended for other future use and is not active.
Verify you’re not using this port . . . ☝️
