Hi!
Is it possible to use this device for fencing? For example, to send a command via network management interface to cut power on one selected output port of the UPS device?
Also, I have two of these... Every server is connected with primary PSU to apc1 and secondary PSU to apc2. How to set up PowerChute to turn servers off only when both are low on battery and offline?

You can't control individual outlets on any RT unit, no...

unfortunately, the Smart UPS RT 5000 does not have individual outlet control. some of APC's UPSs do have individual banks or groups of outlets you can control, but not individual outlets (S20 AV UPS, Smart UPS Modular units). if you want individual outlet control, i'd recommend you look into a [Switched Rack PDU|http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=70] which would allow for outlet grouping - logical and local, outlet users (set up to 24 users with access to only certain outlets), and even command line scripting for outlet control. if you needed to reboot all the outlets, you could reboot the UPS, if only one outlet, you can log into the switched rack PDU and control them from there. the PDU also allows for current monitoring. the PDU plugs into one of the outlets on the back of the UPS.
to shutdown servers attached to the UPS, you can use powerchute network shutdown. you can set it up using what we call a custom installation to have the servers (the powerchute network shutdown software) look at both management cards so that the servers will only shutdown when both UPSs indicate they have a low battery or even based on other settings you can customize. again, they need to be the same exact model UPSs though which it seems like they are. this happens all via the existing network connections.
[here is a little more info|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3143]. hope this helps

Thank you very much!
I'll take a look into PDU's for fencing - and I would need two of the also..
Also, I have set up the PowerChute shutdown agents, and they monitor both UPS's so that's working just fine.
