I have a Smart-UPS 6000 that keeps tripping to an inverter fault. It's out of warranty so I need to replace it. Am I correct in that I don't need to replace the batteries and can just replace the control unit? I was going to purchase one of these.

Well, yes, you could just replace the UPS unit itself but SURT6000RMXLI SKU will include new batteries. I don't know if it is offered without batteries like some other models intended for use with third party batteries but I don't think so (I can only find a select few other VA levels with no batteries). You could keep the spare set of batteries on hand from this unit if you properly store/charge them per Battery Discharge During Storage | FAQs | Schneider Electric US and Battery Damage When Battery Is Left Discharged | FAQs | US
