Hi All,
I'm a newbie here, our company are using 2 Smart-UPS 3000VA (same Power Supply Resource) for 6 servers.
I'm planing to propose a solution to shutdown 6 servers in case of the event of power outage with PowerChute Business edition.
I searched all documents in APC website, but i still don't feel satisfied because the manual do not concern about how PowerChute Agent detect network-enable UPS; and how step-by-step to configure PowerChute Server/ PowerChute Console to shutdown all Agent Servers in the event of power outage.
Maybe, i'm so worried. Thanks for reading!

Hello Dzung,
If your UPS is equipped with a Network Management Card it would be best if you are going to utilize it and use PowerChute Network Shutdown. Here are some documents that would help you with configuring PowerChute Network Shutdown depending on the setup.
PowerChute Network Shutdown Overview - http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/PMAR-7X3JN6_R0_EN.pdf
PowerChute Network Shutdown with more than 50 Computers on One UPS - http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/786/kw/more%20than%2050
If you would like to use PowerChute Business Edition, you will need to safely remove the network management cards of the UPS and purchase an extra hardware depending on how many computers are going to communicate with the UPS. (Old)APC Smart-UPS utilizes one serial and one USB port which can only be used one-at-a-time. If there are more than one PC that would need to communicate with the UPS you will need an Interface Expander (AP9607 - [http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9607]) or Share-UPS (AP9207 - [http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9207]) and the cables as well.
If there are multiple Agents that would be communicating to the PowerChute Server, a network is necessary. The Agent talks to the UPS thru Serial/USB and the PowerChute Server talks to the Agent using the network.
