Hello to everyone,
I use a Smart-UPS 3000 for several routers and switches. Tomorrow, we will have no electrical supply for 1 hour. So I want the Smart-UPS 3000 to keep the routers and Switches alive, so the clients behind can work.
The USV should NOT/NEVER DISCONNECT the supply unless the capacity of the batteries is exhausted, but that will not happen.
I tried to set the right configuration via Networkmanagement-Card directly on the Smart-UPS 3000.
I have no idea how I can completely prevent the shutdown. Unfortunately, I did not receive any instant solution from the support.
Thanks a lot for help!!!
Daniel

Hi,
A Smart-UPS will continue to run until the battery / batteries are dead unless it is commended down by a user or by software. What is the exact model of the UPS, the NMC, and what firmware is on the NMC? Also, do you have any computers powered by the UPS? If so are they running PowerChute and what version/s of PowerChute?

Hi Bill,
thanks for fast response.
Smart-UPS 3000: SMT3000RMI2U
Servers will be shut down before electric power will be disconnected. For this, I tried to set the config directly on the Smart-UPS (via Web-config NMC).
Yesterday and today I tested, but Smart-UPS continued the "countdown" for disconnect delay although the electricity was available again!
Firmware is on the NMC, I do not know exactly.
Thanks for help
Daniel

Hi,
When set to factory defaults the UPS will run until the battery / batteries are exhausted. The UPS will power down if commanded to by PowerChute, the NMC, or user intervention.
When the UPS switches to battery if commanded down there should be an entry in the NMC event log stating the reason for the shutdown. If the NMC is triggering the shutdown without user intervention the most likely setting for a SMT3000 to power down would be in the outlet group setting that are found under Configuration - Outlet Groups and Load Shedding for each group.

Hi Bill,
not the complete UPS is shutting down, only the outlet groups (after a specific delay). I search a way, to disable the "disconnect" of the outlet groups. Sorry, my description was not exact...
I use both groups. The Main-Group is used for all the routers, switches, etc. and the other for server.
The UPS shuts down the server correctly. But I can not prevent the disconnect of the main-group.
Best regards Daniel

How is the UPS shutting down the Server correctly?

If the UPS goes to battery-mode, the server gets the signal to shut down. That works correctly. PowerChute Network Shutdown is installed on the server.

Hi,
As I mentioned earlier the UPS will remain powered on until the battery is exhausted unless there is intervention form PowerChute, the NMC, or a user. Within the PowerChute configuration there is a setting that allow the PowerChute client to send a shut down signal to the UPS. The options are Do not shutdown the UPS, shutdown the UPS, or shutdown the outlet group. Assuming you have PowerChute configured for the proper outlet group you should set the shutdown to outlet group and not to shutdown the UPS. That way only the PowerChute outlet group will be powered down and the Main outlet group will remain energized.
Note: If you have Powerchute configured for the main outlet group than all outlet groups will be powered down.
