Hi, my SURT3000XLI was working as expected until someone accidentally set an external switch to bypass the unit without disconnecting the output lead. This was not discovered for several hours when the external circuit breaker on the input supply eventually tripped after several hours of "ticking" which I suspect was arcing at the site of the breaker. A day later, after having been disconnected from the mains for 24 hours, and the power supply has been correctly re-established but the SURT3000XLI is dark. The input mains supply is passing through the unit and powering the equipment connected to the ouput supply. However, the LEDs are all dark. These were apparently all lit prior to the trip on the mains supply. Pressing and/or pressing and holding the Power On/Test button on the front of the unit has no effect. Any ideas? Could this simply be that the batteries have discharged and I have to wait for another 24 hours before the unit kicks into operation? Could the resettable circuit breakers have tripped and, if so, where are they? The manual refers to them but does not identify their location. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi empiricist,
If the UPS is passing power right now it sounds like the unit is in bypass. These SURT unit have electromechnaical bypasses in them. menaing that unit has to be power on and fucntioning in order to chnage state (ie go to or from bypass). If you are not getting any power from the ups i would start by verfying the circuit breakers are not popped and the input power is ok (be aware that the model number you supplied is an international model that should take 230v H - N - G) As for the possiblility fo the batteries, the unit would have to be on in order to make sure that charging system is on to charge the batts (although its unlikely the batteries were totally killed in that short span the unit was offline). Hope this helps.

Thank you R2, that is what I had hoped and, if true, is the best-case scenario that I had considered. Re the international designation, the UPS is currently sitting in the UK so voltage is correct. The next thing that I need to establish is the whereabouts of the device circuit-breakers - they are no where evident on the outer surface of the device and the user manual refers to them but does not identify their location. I am hoping that these are popped and that resetting them will restore normal function...
Next stop is, I suppose, technical support.
