Hi,
We have a Smart-UPS 3000 here the Online indicator is on and the UPS is emitting a constant beep (much to the annoyance of the people in the next room!).
The battery is fully charged and the load is at 33%.
Can anyone tell me what might be causing the constant beep?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Denis

Hi Erasmus,
I went through the process you described. No change I'm afraid. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

I have a very similar, if not the same, problem with an SUA1000. The UPS emits a constant, continuous beep. The only way to stop the beep is to brain dead the UPS or disconnect the battery connector. Tried changing the battery with no luck. BTW, UPS appears to be functioning without any problems except for the beep. It passes self test and provides power to the load when UPS is unplugged from the outlet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is this a constant tone or a constant "set of beeps"? If just the online LED is on...the unit is not in a fault state and would have no reason to be making an audible alarm. Could you pull off the front display bezel on the unit and check to make sure the ribbon cable that attaches from the UPS to the display is not damaged, etc.?
If this doesn't resolve the issue, I would try this procedure to reset the unit (will require a brief downtime):
*1. Ensure all loads powered by the UPS are properly shut down and turned off.*
*2. Shut down the UPS via the front panel by pressing the button labeled "0".*
*3. Disconnect the UPS' input power cord from the wall receptacle.*
*4. Press and hold the "0" button for about 4 seconds and listen for a click*
from inside the unit. At this point the green sensitivity LED on the back of
the unit will turn off, indicating that the unit is completely powered off.
However, if the unit were previously set to low sensitivity, it is harder to
notice the change in brightness.

It's a constant high pitched tone. We initially thought it was a fan in a power supply of one of the other machines. But have verified that the UPS is emitting the noise (by turning off all other machines in the room).
Thanks for your suggestion - I will schedule the test and post my findings.

if you put the UPS on battery (if possible) by cutting the upstream breaker or even just pulling the plug from the UPS, does it function correctly? (be advised, if there is a problem, this could potentially drop a critical load). i'd be interested to know if the UPS makes another beep, over the constant tone, indicating the UPS is operating on battery. this should be 4 beeps every thirty seconds so if you have disabled the UPS alarms, you'd want to make sure you enable them for this test.
depending on what happens with this, the alarm/speaker may be faulty on the UPS if the only LED on the front panel is the online LED. that part isnt user replacable so you'd have to look into repair or replacement for the entire UPS.

Yes, the problem persists even under no load. I think I will go ahead and remove the speaker if I cannot find another solution.

I have a similar problem. My UPS Pro 500 is making a constant high-pitched noise (not beeping). I can't turn off the unit. I have unplugged it and it is still making the noise. What can I do as it is very loud? If the answer is nothing, then how long should I expect the noise to last considering that it is now unplugged?

How would I remove the speaker? I have a UPS Pro 500. The unit appears to be sealed. My unit is making a high-pitched squeal. I can't turn off the unit. I have tried the off switch (holding it down). I have unplugged the unit. I have tried to remove the battery but can't seem to make it budge.
Any help will be appreciated.

Okay, you have unplugged the UPS and remove the batteries and it still producing the noise. Are there loads connected on the UPS and what happens if you turn it off is it still giving a high pitch sound?
If there's no load attach and the noise cannot be stopped, this means that the UPS has encountered a fault.
