Smart-UPS 1500 behind Photvoltaik UPS

Hi all,

I have a Smart-UPS 1500 that has generally worked flawlessly until we installed a photovoltaic system with a battery storage unit. The PV storage switches seamlessly in the event of a power outage, and everything runs as it should. However, ever since the power comes back on, the Smart-UPS 1500 briefly switches off and then back on. As a result, my server shuts down. What could be causing this behavior, and is there a way to fix it?

You’ll need to provide the following information such as the event, data, ups logs.

Provide the exact model UPS, serial number, UPS ID & Firmware installed.

Show me a clear photo of the back output (outlets) of the rear of the system. Provide an image capture of all the settings relating to power quality for the UPS.

Lastly, show me the battery installation date and the production sticker on the cartridge. If the UPS system is connected to a server and has APC Power Chute software disconnect the USB cable.

If there is another power blip report back how the system behaves without the USB cable connected to the server. ☝️

Please indicate the model, serial number, UPS ID (Firmware). Battery installation date, battery production sticker.

Has the USB cable been disconnected from the computer running PCSS?!? If so has there been any problems where the power blipped and the UPS behaved improperly?

Assuming you have never changed out the battery cartridge. Based on the information you have provided the battery cartridge is six years old.

The average service life of the battery cartridge is 2-5 years based on usage, temperature, and environmental conditions.

You’ll need to perform a static & dynamic load test of the system to gauge how the system performs.

Static: Remove all connected loads from the outputs. Disconnect AC Mains from the wall and time how long the unit runs.

Dynamic: Ideally you would have the same connected loads such as your servers connected. But you may replace them with anything such as a fan, heater, etc.

Remove AC Mains from the unit and time how long the system operates for and compare it to the APC Runtime Calculator.

There will be three possible outcomes for the two tests. Immediate shutdown, very short runtime, to average runtime when compared to a new battery cartridge.

Report back what you see and observe upon completing both static & dynamic load tests.

NOTE: The battery production date is either stamped (silkscreened) or identified by a alphanumeric sticker that is white / white-yellow.

Leave the USB cable disconnected from the two systems. Report back once there is a power outage and what you see and observe.
