Hi there,
We replaced the battery in a Smart UPS 1500 late last year, and within a few months it started beeping intermittently. I pulled it out of the comms room and have it here on my own desk for testing, with one computer connected to it. It was fine for about a week and then started beeping. See the video below:

Is there any way of checking the UPS is actually working properly. I don't want to buy another battery and have the same thing happen.

Thanks Jonathan,
Based on your serial number this unit was manufactured in 2007, making it about 11 years old. The typical life span of our units is 7-10 years, so it is very likely the issue you are seeing is due to aging internal components. In this situation I would recommend replacing the entire UPS.

Hi Jonathan,
This alarm typically points to an issue with the battery connection. Either the physical connection is not fully seated, or there could be an internal issue with the unit, possibly due to age. The fault description is listed in http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156554/
Would you be able to provide the full model and serial number of the unit? It should be on a white sticker on the back of the unit. With that information I may be able to tell you if the issue is more likely due to age.
