Ok we have a new Prod Date 7/08 Smart?UPS 1500 RM and the batteries discharge all by themselves. Form the data log it looks like the ups it on battery invoked by an automated self test @ 8:13 @ 8:27 we get the low battery message and then we see another automated self test start @ 8:28 and this cycles regularly for a while. ap-9619 is installed. Log can be see at http://netweb.hctx.net/apc.pdf

There is no USB cable plugged into it but the console cable is plugged into it but nothing connected to the other end. The serial cable is there for configuration purposes only it will be removed. Ill let you know thanks

do you have a serial cable attached to the UPS? even if it is attached to the UPS and nothing else on the other end it can cause this issue.
please remove any data cables (serial OR USB) COMPLETELY from the UPS and see if this behavior stops. (USB shouldnt be used anyway with a network management card and serial cable should only be attached if you are using the serial interface of the management card. a faulty serial cable can cause the issue you are describing though)
