I have 3 Smart UPS 1500 units. One of the batteries just failed and I have a replacement on order. This battery was 4 years old so it was time to replace anyway. Is it safe to leave the UPS on with Servers connected to it (and also running) while replacing the battery? I believe it is hot swappable, but just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Hi Rob,
You're correct, the battery in that UPS is hot swappable. You can leave the UPS on with servers running on it without a battery without any problem. The only issue you may run into is if the power goes out and you have no battery installed the UPS has no way of keeping your load up.

Thanks, Jmart. If the power goes out in the 15 seconds it takes me to switch batteries I'll chalk it up to extremely bad luck. 😉
