Is there a way to turn off the Green mode on this model? I'm looking to see if I can get the unit to output a steady 230v or 240v for a period rather than follow my normal input which can float around quite a bit.
I have a 9630 NMC card installed, but cannot an option in there or via the menus on the unit itself.

in our 6.x NMC firmware due later in December, the NMC will give you the option to toggle Green Mode on/off. today you cannot do it via the NMC. you'd have to adjust the setting via the front panel of the UPS via the LCD.

Thats interesting over the NMC firmware option, I couldn't find it via the control panel on the front either - can you give a pointer as to where to look?

Which model UPS is it? If it's an SMX or SMT unit, the line interactive topology won't give you tight voltage regulation unless running on battery. SmartUPS Online UPSes, on the other hand, can do this.

Interesting, I thought the units have a Boost and Trim Automatic Voltage Regulation system which can be turned on (by turning off green mode) which seems pretty good. I have a larger (SMX3000RMHV2UNC) Smart Line-Interactive UPS and it will keep a pretty steady output even when not on battery. The feature list for AVR does say it is not supported on all models, but I cannot find out which models the feature is on.
I did go through the Advanced menus too and couldn't find the option, so I suspect my model (SMT1500I) doesn't support the feature.

The unit will leave green mode if it needs to boost or trim.

How does the ‘green’ operating mode increase efficiency?
APC’s patent pending ‘green’ mode bypass components that perform automatic voltage regulation (AVR) when not needed. AVR is typically handled in the line interactive design by solid state transformers. These transformers, while extremely reliable, do have some energy loss to remain energized. By using these transformers only when needed results in higher efficiencies across a wide range of load conditions.

Note that boost or trim only intervenes when the input voltage deviates significantly from nominal. You can examine the acceptable output voltage window by logging into the NMC and going to UPS->Power Settings. For example on a 230V unit I have here, the tightest output voltage range I can have is 207V to 253V.

It's interesting there must be a difference between the smaller and larger units...
Looking at an old log from the 3000va unit, whilst it was just running normally shows Vmin between 235.45v and Vmax 243.35v but the output, as recorded by a different data logger, was between 240.81v - 240.95v. This is over a 24 hour period of general running of the line interactive unit. There have been some nasty power issues in that location so it was all instrumented up to look for a event. As an aside, it looks like the neutral pole of the 4 way breaker into the room was iffy causing temporary floating neutral problems and blown PSUs. It's now a 3 way breaker with a hard wired neutral
I think I'll just await the firmware for the NMC and see if an option appears, I'm sure I turned it off on the 3000va unit but it's live and a few miles away in a clients basement so I can't easily pop in and start tinkering with it. Well, until the extra battery packs turn up, then I can when add them to the units.

you might need to change the mode to advanced (versus the default of standard). try going to the configuration menu and choosing the menu option and see if its currently set to standard and change it to advanced. then see if its under configuration or control.
