Hello, i have powerchute installed on a server but I have all the shutdown options disabled as the server is running dual PS attached to 2 UPS's (i just want to use the powerchute software to monitor the UPS, not to initiate any shutdowns).
Problem is over the weekend I got emails "Battery Disconnected" followed by "Insufficient Runtime Available". So I know i need to look at replacing the UPS or the battery, but the problem is immediately after this, Powerchute shut my server down.
I confirmed, in the Powerchute - Event Configuration "Shutdown" is unchecked on every option. In addition in the "Shutdown Settings" configuration, it is set to "Do not shutdown when power fails".
What am I missing? I do not want the server to shut down on power failure.
Thanks!

Chris,
PCBE is designed to power down the system for Low Runtime Remaining See the chart below
Even though you deselected any event shutdowns and select Do not shut down when power fails if the battery runtime falls below the combined time configured for Application and Operating System shutdown the system will be commanded down.
This screenshot is from the PCBE help file
It states that Low Runtime Warning event does not display on the Event Configuration screen as it is not configurable (because it always causes a shutdown). The application is designed that way to prevent the OS from crashing.
If you are uncomfortable with this you can uninstall PCBE and install a NMC in the UPS to monitor the UPS that way. Another possible option is to install APCUPSD. To my knowledge APCUPSD can be configured to never shut down the OS but I recommend checking with the APCUPSD forum to verify.

Chris,
What version of PowerChute are you running? PowerChute Network Shutdown or PowerChute Business Edition and if PowerChute Business Edition is the server and console installed?
Depending on the version of PowerChute when 2 critical events occur simultaneously a shutdown will be triggered.

It is power chute business edition. I do have the server and the console installed.
If there is no way to totally disable an auto shut down i may just need to remove the software, but i like being able to monitor the status of the UPS's so ideally i could keep it and just disable the auto shut down.
Thanks!
