Hi all,
I have a problem using a SMX1500RM2U. I used to get it online two years ago which worked fine. However, we do not use it since then without charging or doing anything. Recently, we would like to put it back to work, but the module does not respond anything. We plug it to the wall and there is a click sound at the time we plug it in. When pressing the start button, no screen and light come on, just a sound like when it can start. We also check the output voltage which is about 19.5 Vac, the output voltage to the battery which is 8 Vdc and the battery voltage, 2.5 Vdc. I reset the over-current button at the back of the UPS as well, but to no avail. Any comment and help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Tan

Just want to update if anyone has the same problem. After changing the battery and reset the date of battery installation, the UPS works fine and the alert disappears.
The problem I have at the first place is that when putting the start button, no light and screen show up. The only thing I can notice is a click sound. What I do is to remove the cover and find that one of the wire connections is loose. I fix it and later turn it on. The UPS is still having an alert showing "Connect Battery". I decide to replace the battery and finally it works great.
My UPS model is SMX1500RM2U.
Thanks so much, guys!

I think it's still true that the newer Microlink UPS models (such as your SMX1500RM2U) must have a good battery in place or they will not start up. One thing is for certain: after two years of sitting, the batteries in your UPS are almost certainly dead beyond recovery.

On my SMX1500RM2U, the display will respond to button presses even without a battery if the unit is plugged in.

I just tested a long-dormant, battery disconnected SMT750 to see what it'd do. Indeed it does power up without a battery attached, though it took a few tries to get the display to light up and respond.
The original poster might be best advised to try a battery from another unit if they have one.

Hi William,
Thanks so much, it turned out to be the loose connection inside the main board. I found it after remove the side cover. When plugging it properly, the screen shows up and I still have some troubles seeing the alarm from "Connect battery" which I think I need to replace the battery.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks!
Have a good weekend!
