Salvaged SmartUps 700XL
Hi,
I got a salvaged 700XL Smart UPS. UPC: SU700XLNET, S/N: QS0132213016. I'm guessing the batteries were dead, but I don't know the voltage or anything. Are the batteries in this unit 6Vdc or 12Vdc? I've not seen any 24Vdc, so I'm guessing that isn't a concern. Most likely I'm guessing is that each is 12Vdc for a total of 24Vdc. They are connected in series. Are there schematics available? Most producers of these old units publish their old manuals.
I'm retired and can't afford to buy a new one. I'd really like to get this working. A thunderstorm took out my computer powersupply about a year and a half ago. I had this ups, but non-functional. My wife passed away and I'm trying to get caught up on old projects I had to put aside to take care of her.

Hi Iyyov,
This unit uses a 24 volt battery module, part number RBC7. The unit will not turn on with a bad battery, so it is possible that it just needs to be replaced. I would like to note however that this unit is approximately 18 years old. Typical lifespan of a UPS is more like 10 years, so you might want to take that into consideration when deciding to purchase a replacement battery. We do not release schematics or support component level repairs on this type of unit. They are not considered to be field serviceable aside from battery replacements.
