SYPX2 UPS Initialization Error

Hi

This is not a problem but a solution and I have posted it in the hope that no one else has the problems I experienced today. If this is not the correct area, I apologise.

We had an issue with a customer today where they put powered down the UPS (SY160K160H-PD) and put it in to bypass through the ISX PDU to install new power modules. When trying to restore power, the UPS showed a fault on the control panel "UPS Initializing" and would not go any further. In the end we had to power down the whole system including PDU cabinet resulting in the customer having to power down their load. On restart, the problem disappeared and the UPS is now fully functional.

After the fact we have now been advised that this is a known issue with the UPS and it is a communication problem between the network management card and the PowerView control panel. The resolution for this problem without having to power down the full system is to reset the NMC by pushing the reset button or pulling it out and putting it back in again.

When the UPS is in maintenance bypass and the NMC and Powerview are still powered up, the firmware in the NMC does not pick up that the UPS is switched back on and causes confusion. Doing this does NOT affect the load.

I hope this helps anyone else who may experience this problem and avoid any unnecessary disruption to the load.
