SYMMETRA LX and SYPD3 PDU problem.

I'm trying to use 208v on a SYMMETRA LX?. So, I bought the SYPD3 PDU.

The SYPD3 is listed as an option for SYMMETRA LX (SYA16K16P) on APCs website.

So far, I've bought 2 sets of the SYPD3 and they're all the same.

Does anyone know why a SYPD3 PDU does not have the correct connectors to a SYMMETRA LX?

Specifically, the SYPD3 comes with 4 pin/4 black wires and a 3 pin/3 white wires connector.
OTOH, the SYMMETRA LX (SYA16K16P) comes with a 4 pin/4 black wires, a 5 pin/3 white wires connector and
a 3 pin/3 red wires connector.

I've attached a picture for illustration.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

hi-

i know its a little confusing but these arent color coded as you'd expect. the connectors are keyed so you cant plug them into the wrong connections though.

there are more connections coming from the LX because different backplates use different wires/connectors back there so sometimes there are extras like this.

you'd want to connect whatever connectors match up so - connect the 4 pin connection on the PDU backplate to the 4 pin connection on the LX and then connect the 3 pin connection on the PDU backplate to the 3 pin connection on the LX.

I agree with the other poster. I have a Symmetra LX and have the following backplates: (3) SYPD11 and (1) SYAPD1. The SYAPD1 is very similar to your SYPD3 in that the colors don't match and one male connector goes into a female that is not the same size. All voltages on the backplates are correct.

Watch the "System Enable" switch in the back. Toggling that will disconnect power to your loads. If you have any cowboys/cowgirls who like to start throwing switches when something isn't working they will cause some pain.

yeah, the system enable is the master on/off switch for the UPS. if you are not in maintenance bypass and you flip it, everything will power off. if you ARE in maintenance bypass, it will only turn the UPS electronics off but your system will still be fed utility power in bypass.

i hope nobody hit the system enable switch while you were changing this backplate. it should already be off. you have to fully power down the entire UPS and loads to change the backplates, they arent hot swappable 🙂
