Unfortunately, it appears the system was identified as the international chassis SYMSTRFI.

As previously discussed on this thread, despite the System Enable switch being ON, the UPS remains "dead set" when provided appropriate utility or battery power.

Hi:

Can you specify exactly what you mean? Are there no LED's and no messages displayed on the PowerView screen? Or is getting stuck on the "Please wait" screen? or any other symptoms? Is there a load on the UPS right now?

Thanks

Hi

The UPS is totally dead set, there is no output , NO LED lights ON in the MIM and NO Display when the input ciruit breaker and System Enable are closed . The source input supply is available OK and all 3 SYPM, 4 KVA Power Modules are installed.

We investigated the I/O Module and there is a contactor switch inside but not operating when the UPS is switch on - no clicking sound. We checked that there is a black and white cable coming from the MIM Controller to the contactor coil. Possibly the contactor or controller problem, please confirm.

Based from above findings, can you advise which module is faulty, could it be the MIM/RIM or all the 3 SYPM Modules.

Hi:

Keep in mind that this UPS will turn on with just a MIM. If you are having difficulty and want to confirm which module is acting up, try removing every module (batteries, power modules, RIM) except the MIM, then powering it on. Also keep in mind that sometimes the seating of these MIMs is a bit tricky. Make sure you have a solid connection and no bent pins on the MIM. If the microswitch is not engaged, the module will not turn on and thus the UPS will not turn on.

Let me know how that all goes.

Thanks

I'm curious to know if the SYMIM shows two green LEDs when the maintenance bypass switch is closed (enabled) with good input voltage and System Enable ON.

If you do have LEDs on the SYMIM, but nothing on the PowerView display, you may want to reseat the Symmetra Communications Card (SYCC) in the rear of the UPS (far left slot).

HI

The mains input is normal and when Enable Switch Button and Input Breaker is closed, there is no LED display on the Panel. We traced the I/O Module and there is a contactor that should operate and provide supply to the MIM and the Power Modules, where does the control signal come from to operate this contactor.

If the MIM is faulty will this be the symptom?

With Input Breaker, System Enable, and Maintenance Bypass switches all closed/enabled, can you please answer the following?

1) Are the system fans at the bottom, front of the Symmetra spinning?
2) What LEDs are ON the Main Intelligence Module?
3) What LEDs are ON the Redundance Intelligence Module?
4) Is/Are the Network Management Card(s) powered ON in the rear of the Symmetra?

Thanks

Hi

There is no fan operating, NO LED Indicators are ON, it is completely deadset. If the MIM is faulty will this be the case. My guys are checking the enable switch, where is the signal coming from to start the UPS, is it an initial DC Supply to the MIM or is it AC Supply?

If there is AC input into the Symmetra Power Array, and BOTH Input Circuit Breaker and Maintenance Bypass switches are both ON (up position), then the fans will spin no matter whether the System Enable is ON (up) or there is a Main Intelligence Module installed.

Since your fans are not spinning, you seem to have power issues -- possibly internal to the UPS.

Are you able to measure any voltage at the input voltage selector panel on the front-bottom of the UPS?

When was the last time this UPS was working properly? Is there any service history?

HI

We did make measurements, from the rear incoming AC Supply and also at the rear backplane circuitboard busbar of the UPS where the MIM/RIM are connected.

We also traced the incoming power cables and bypass cables and some control signals from the top part of the module to the I/O Modules (Input and Bypass Circuit Breaker), there is a contactor switch in this module, we do not have the details of this contactor switch as the label is not too visible, do you have more information on this contactor switch or would this contactor switch be the possible problem.

We checked with the end-user on the history and they said they have a major breakdown few months ago, possibly faulty module wherein the UPS went inoperational and was switched bypass until now.

There are no more protection breakers or active components from the I/O module to the backplane of the UPS ,can you advise what values should be measured from the UPS rear busbars, it is a three phase UPS with 3 Power Module.

Looking forward to your reply.

So does it appear that AC power is reaching the bus bars and passes through to output terminals while the UPS is in manual bypass? If so, you might want to check to see if perhaps the System Enable switch is malfunctioning, or perhaps the EPO is preventing the system enable from closing ON.

If you have a 3-pole input circuit breaker on the front-bottom of your Symmetra, yours is a 3ph input UPS with single-phase 230v output.

With the System Enable switch ON, and good AC power in the backplane, the SYMIM will turn on when it's microswitch is engaged. The SYMIM has its own power AC supply.

Even if the SYMIM was failed, we should assume the SYRIM is not also bad. With just a good SYMIM in the chassis, there should be signs of activity such as LEDs on the SYRIM (solid orange LED if MIM is not installed or failed), and the PowerView display would power up along with any accessory cards installed in the rear of the system.

Here is a link to the [documentation for your Symmetra if you have the 3 phase input model SYMSTRF3I|https://www.se.com/in/en/product/SY16K3I/apc-symmetra-16kva-scalable-to-16kva-n+1-380415v-31/] or if you have the [single-phase input model SYMSTRFI|https://www.se.com/in/en/product/SY16KI/apc-symmetra-16kva-scalable-to-16kva-n+1-220240v/].

You can download the user manual and installation guides if you'd like.

You identified the unit as the old solid masterfraem right away. 208 or 240 single phase. Good. The unit can actually turn on without utility power, from just salpping the SYBATTS in. Try that. Maybe you have the enable switch off instead of on. Do you have the input microswitch /config for 208 or 240? I am a little late on this thread but hope this helps. What did you do between replacing batts? Did you move the unit to another room, facility ....? Try cold start. make sure the power modules are each engaged by their latching microswitches.

I have same problem,

APC Symmetra Power Array Model: SYMSTRFI

With good input voltage, good battery, UPS is not turning on, NO LED lights ON in the MIM/RIM and NO Powerview Display when the input circuit breaker and System Enable are closed (UP). Only one symptom of life, after System enable switch is closed (UP) fan of SYPM is working 20, 22 seconds and then stops. I had tried another SYPM but same. We investigated the I/O Module, it is ok.

have anyone a idea?  please support, for me it is very important.
