I would like to know if it is possible to wire this with a plug input instead of hardwiring. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

hi erin,

we don't sell this with a plug option but you'd need to refer to the local code in the area where this is going to be installed to make sure it is acceptable to use a plug for this UPS (which I guess requires a 50A breaker/plug if I remember correctly). as long as the UPS gets 2 phases, neutral, and a ground, you can add a plug (by a qualified electrician).

well, you'd be de-rating this 50A UPS to a 30A UPS if you use L14-30. so if it is clear that this is now a 30A UPS, and everyone (electrician/code) says its OK, i don't see why not. if the upstream breaker (which should then be 30A) keeps tripping, they might be loading the UPS too much since it can potentially do 50A max.

So, I can use a plug type L14-30 with this, as long as electrical code and electrician say its ok, correct?

So, what I really need is a 50 amp plug to go with what the unit breaker is, so not to derate the machine. I just told the guy to get with his electrician, and sent him the specs of the unit wiring so they can work it out, but I think if he is going to have a "plug", instead of the hard-wire, that is what he needs. I appreciate the input on this, very helpful.
