Hi All,
I have a maxed out Symmetra (16kVA N+1, 16 battery packs) that I've been using for quite some time. According to the front panel it will be having its 9th birthday next week.
Not counting battery packs, which were replaced less then 2 years ago, how long can I reasonably expect this unit to last? More importantly, how long SHOULD I be trying to keep it going for?
I've found that, apart from batteries, SmartUPS units will last indefinitely. I still have a few of those from the '90s running...
Thanks,
Ian

Thanks. I figured we were approaching end-of-life... Guess it's time to turn over the couch cushions to find budget for a new one...

I believe the design lifetime is 10 years for most UPS models even though the UPS may last longer than that. I also think that we will only keep parts around for 10 years after the last unit is manufactured and I want to say that was 2004-2005 already.
