Good afternoon
Have a SURTD5000XLi that has been lost for a while (a few years actually)
Installed new RBC44 battery kit, unit cold starts.
Powering on gives warning of failed batteries that goes away a few minutes later
Letting batteries charge (which they do (~ 219Vdc ) with mains until full
Terminal gives a few hours on runtime remaining but has soon as I pull the plug, the load is cut off
Trying to perform calibration immediatly cuts load also, and is a PITA to try to start the UPS after a failed calibration aptempt ....
Any suggestion anyone?

I forgot to ask and I re-read and didnt see it noted. Does the UPS coldstart? Meaning if you remove AC power from it and unplug it and hold down the test button, the UPS should beep twice and then you should hold and let go of the test button during the second beep?
This would normally sound like a battery issue but you said these batteries were brand new, right?

Hello - when you refer to "terminal," are you talking about connecting via the serial port to the pre-installed UPS Network Management Card or are you talking about something else?
Can you describe the warning of failed batteries - is this the replace battery LED or another LED that is solid or flashing?
Here is the front panel for reference:
I'd be very interested in the UPS Network Management Card logs, if available. (Instructions here -> How can I download Event, Data, Configuration, and Debug files from my Network Management Card? | FA...)
Is it possible to retrieve those or at least verify if you have a Network Management Card (likely AP9619 or AP9631) installed? I believe this UPS ships with one.

Hello Angela
The led that flashed whem cold booting the UPS was the replace batteries one (led immediatly above power on button)
This ups comes pre-installed with AP9619, but i've accessed terminal via the 940-1525A RJ48 cable provided (was actually trying to check if battery constant was OK ). I am going to power down the unit, plug in the AP9619 and send you the logs requested
FYI the unit's serial is : NS1002005141
Thank you for you support

Thank you for the logs. Just one note - SURTD units (versus SURT or SURTA) don't allow any type of access, like to change battery constants. SURTD units only offer the "RT Control Menu" and are micro-link language which a user cannot interact with. Plus, I don't think this issue has anything to do with battery contacts/runtime, etc...yet.
I looked at the logs and all honestly I don't really see anything abnormal!
When the load turns off upon unplugging the UPS, what does the UPS do? Does it report it is on battery with 4 beeps every 30 seconds and on battey LED (I didn't see any "on battery events in the log")? Alternatively, does the UPS turn off completely too? Or can you leave the NMC in and pull the plug and see what it logs?
Just to see, when the UPS goes to battery, assuming it stays on but just drops the output, can you measure with a voltmeter any of the receptacles on the output? Is there any AC voltage there, even if it is too low)? What is connected to the UPS for your testing, and whatever it is, is it plugged directly into the receptacle in the rear of the UPS, versus via a transformer? According to the data log, it thinks it is outputting 230V...

Hello once again Angela
When unpluging the mains from UPS, it completly shuts itself down (fan stops also)
Powering it up, it reports Battery LED and the 4 beeps every 30 seconds ... After some time it stops beeping, battery led turns off and battery charge graph resumes until 100% . When I power on the unit, it is charging the batteries with 219Vdc
The load is a pure resistive one. It is a halogen projector, and when I pull the plug, it drops to 0V , because it shuts down the entire UPS (the relays switch....)

Hi
Sometimes trying to coldstart the UPS fails ( first touch on power fan spins (brains on) but when trying to turn it on we can see and ear it trying to power , but the fan immediatly stops ) . It repeats this process 3 or 4 times
Powering it with mains, the fan starts and then we can turn it on. After some time charging the batteries, and if there is no load, unit coldstarts perfectly
Electronically, I've done all the tests I could. Browsing the internet I could find the service manual, and I can say that this lynx 2 board passes in all diode checks...
Thanks for all your effort
Forgot to say ,so I edited this reply: RBC44 kit is new (batteries quality test is of January 2013)

Have you tried different types of loads?
