Hi
I have an APC RT3000 (I think), model number is SURTD5000XLI. My work place was throwing the device away due to a replacement cycle, not due to fault. The device powers up and from looking at the manual has no faults and the batteries look good, however, I cant connect via serial or network. I've tried the suggested Serial settings (2400/9600 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control) and I've reset the network interface card by pressing and hold the RESET button for 20 seconds. The device doesn't pick up a DHCP address and I cant connect on the usual ips of 192.168.1.1 or192.168.0.1.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what to try next, I'm all ears.
Thanks

The SURTD5000 (not an RT3000) should be able to be accessed both by serial with the proper (db9) cable (APC specific) directly to a local computer (db9 or "adapted" usb) or the NMC once the password and IP addresses are reset properly. If you are on your "local" network rather than your "work place" network, the IP address(s) will need to be reset. If you have a gen 2 NMC (AP963x) you will need a specific cable to get to the "console" to talk directly to the UPS hardware rather than the NMC's software.

I should probably note that the device was configured by a colleague that left a long time ago and was in a remote office, none of the staff have any documented config for it either...

Hi,
What is the model of the network management card? The card should be an AP9630 or AP9631. To reset those cards you will need the serial cable 940-0299 and follow the instruction in FAQ FA156075. I can take a few attempts to get the card to reset.

Thanks for the reply, the card is a AP9631. I'll see if I can find one... Do you know why I wouldn't be able to connect to the serial interface on the ups itself?

HI,
You should remove the AP9631 to connect to the UPS serial port via Hyperterminal.
NOTE: Even when you remove the card connecting to that model UPS serially provides minimal information / settings.
