Will a SURTA3000XL power the network mgt card or any other indicator lights without batteries? Trying to figure out if this used unit I just picked up is good or junk. I _assumed_, which I know is never good, that being an online unit w/ hotswappable batts, etc that it would pass power in the absence of the batteries but I've plugged it in and the NM card doesn't even power on & no output on any receptacle.
Bought w/ intention of grabbing new batts but don't wanna spend the cash without someway to test unit for DOA.
Thanks in advance for your educated input.

Hi Bill,
The unit will not power on without batteries so that is why there is no power to the output. As far as the NMC goes it will also not be powered if the capacitors inside the unit are not charged. Since the unit has been without batteries for a while I suspect that there is no charge in those capacitors and is thus why the NMC will not power on. At this point we would need some batteries to make any conclusion on the life of the unit.

Because it's so irritating when folks don't close the loop on forums, I wanted to check back in and confirm Mike's solution. I was able to source the batteries from Batteries Plus (Duracell) for around $260 and the unit sprang to life and checks out fine.
Thanks again, Mike!

Hi Bill. It appears that you don't mind using non-OEM batteries as I do. For future reference, I just wanted to let you know that another company, Battery Sharks, has replacement batteries for your unit for about $140.
I've used them in the past and they have good deals on batteries especially if your UPS is out of warranty.
