Hi there,
I purchased a surt2000xl that had never been used and finally got it out of the box today.
I connected it as per the instructions and plug in the power.
#1 - I am getting an internal fault, with the second and third less (counting form the bottom) flashing.
What is that fault code?
I checked the batteries and one is at 6v the others at around 12. I am charging the low battery now.
#2 - I have now tried to power on the unit without the battery and it doesn't power on at all. Is that normal?
Thanks
Matty

Hello,
On # 1 could you please use the picture below to verify what you see? I just want to be really sure I understand what is solid and flashing.
# 2 - Yes, these SURT UPSs require good batteries to power on.

Hi Angela
First - thanks for answering so quickly. See picture for details.....
I am getting a flashing red led over the X, that is the middle led above the on button.
I am getting 2 flashing less above the battery symbol. Not the bottom led but the 2 above it.
All of these a flashing together not very fast.
I am still charging the bad battery, when It gets to 12 volts I will reassamble and retry
Thanks
Matty

I looked this fault up and it says its a Fan Fault. You could try cleaning the fan with some compressed air or make sure it looks okay (like make sure nothing is preventing it from spinning).

Angela
Thanks again,
I was mistaken, the power to the fan was working when I ran a self test.
My assumption now is the fan is not behaving as it should, so I ordered two new ones from Hong Kong and when they come i will install them.
I will let you know if it does the trick.
Funny thing is I actually bought this unit in the US, but I have had it shipped to the middle eat.
Regards
Matty

Angela
I found the 2 fans in the unit (one is on the front and one on the back blowing air over the huge heatsink.
It appears that the power to the rear fan is not good. The fan itself works fine (I swapped it with the front one and it span just fine).
Any ideas what causes the fan power supply to fail? Where should I look next?
Thanks
Matty

As far as I know, these are not really serviceable but it depends on region how this type of thing is handled. So in the USA where I am, we'd have a user replace the entire unit either under warranty (at our cost) or outside of warranty. I am going to assume you are not in the USA since the SKU we are discussing is international.
We also do not provide schematics or anything so I won't be all that helpful with the internal workings of the unit and what to do at that level.
If anyone wants to help here on the forum, that's fine and it'd be at your own risk but for any other options locally (repair, check warranty status, etc), I'd contact your local technical support team who may be able to make further recommendations.

Well I hope it is as simple as new fans and you're able to fix it! (I always personally think it is a shame that type of thing is not easily serviceable by everyone for larger units).
