if you were satisfied with this model, my suggestion is, as i always suggest people; "buy the same one" and leave this you have for spare parts in case the new one goes wrong....at least you will have some spare parts and make it cheaper and easier to electronic technician when repairing eventually....unless the new one burns exactly the same way like yours now....but lets hope it wont be the case 🙂
wish you Happy Easter 😉

That doesn't look good. I've seen parts fail in APC (and other brand) UPSs, but not to that extent. Assuming it "just happened" during normal operation, as opposed to being shot with a large-caliber weapon, or coming back from "Ugly Ed's Video Repair Emporium" after "repair", then I would think APC would be very interested in finding out what went wrong. I'd suggest contacting your appropriate APC support office, asking to speak to an engineer, and describe the problem (and pictures) to them and request a "failure analysis" in addition to repair/replace (if it is in warranty). If it is something that APC could investigate and prevent happening in future models, I expect this will work out well for both of you. If you can't get to anyone who knows what failure analysis is, post back in this topic and Angela will see it and point you at an appropriate contact. To help her with that, you might want to mention the region is was purchased in (for example, Canada) and the region it was used in (for example, the USA). That will let her direct you to the most appropriate contact.
It is usually best to "preserve the evidence" if you are going to send something (anything) for failure analys, meaning not disassembling anything more than needed to make the unit safe (generally isolating the batteries) and definitely not cleaning any of the scorched areas. The pattern of the scorching and the stuff deposited provide important leads as to what happened, and in what sequence of steps.
As an aside, a UPS contains a lot of high-energy components (batteries, capcacitors, etc.) which means that even when external power is removed, there is still a lot of stored power in the UPS. Combined with the necessarily sensitive and accurate electronics in there, if something shorts out, lots of bad things can happen.

IMHO: the problem was caused by MKP capacitor in EMI filter section at the input of mains.....see this yellow capacitor.....it is Metalised Polypropylene capacitor...it brokethrough (went short) and got overheated up to the "eruption" it causes sparks while working under higher voltage that was up to 350V....and the rest is as you can see...
if you are about to repair it, for 1000VA UPS 3.3uF/400V is enough....and rest as it was originally...and burned spots, wires, simply bypass with new lines, wires...

I'm from Argentina (sorry about my bad english) and this ups was connected to 220v during years.
The ups work fine over all those years and i think the cost of repair the unity is very high.
The card of the brown slot is totaly out.
Maybe is better buy a new one.
Thanks for the answers guys.
