Hello,
I have just installed an APC UPS and I am unable to connect to it to configure the Powerchute software. I have plugged in a serial cable and put in the settings that are listed in the UPS manual, but it doesn't connect. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I can configure it with an IP address to I can try to connect via a web page? I am getting nowhere with the Serial connection.
I have used the following settings from the user guide:
Start
=> Programs
=>
Accessories
=> Communication
=>
HyperTerminal.
2
. Double-click on the HyperTerminal
icon.
Follow the prompts to choose a name and select an icon. Disregard the message, "...must install a modem," if it is displayed. Click OK.
Select the
COM1
port that is connected to your UPS. The port settings are:
bits per second - 2400
data - bits 8
parity - none
stop bit - 1
flow control - none
When I do this I just get a blank screen. I was expecting to be prompted with a username and password?
Can anyone help?
Cheers

You do not use HyperTerminal to configure PowerChute. PowerChute is installed and configured on the computer system.
If you are attempting to configure a network management card that is installed on the SURT then when you get to the blank screen you should press enter a few times and then you will be asked for the user name and password. The setting you listed above are correct if the network card is model AP9617, AP9618, or AP9619. If the network card is model AP9630 or AP9631 then the bits per second should be 9600. In order to connect to one of these cards, you should use the 940-0299 Tip, Ring Sleeve (TRS) to DB9 cable and connect it directly to the NMC2 into the 2.5mm jack labeled "console" rather than the UPS serial port.
9600 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control.
