SUA3000XLI

Looking to purchase a number of new UPS' with additional batteries to power a number of Cisco switches, Radio kit and BT equipment etc. The model recommended by a supplier is a SUA3000XLI with additional batteries to provide 3-4 hours (5 batteries). We manage and monitor all our UPS' using Solarwinds etc. I was just wondering if anyone else uses this model of UPS on Network equipment and if so, did they feel the unit was most suited to this or if there was a better model out that I should look into?

Many thanks

The latter is the SURT192XLBP. It is for Smart-UPS RT's only, therefore, will not be compatible with the SUA3000XLI. That battery pack will work if you have to go the route I mentioned previously, which is having a UPS which requires less than 2ms transfer time to battery.

Aled,

I'll leave this open to other APC end-users who can provide the feedback/information you're requesting.

However, the one thing I can state is that you may want to double check with manufacturers of the equipment which will be powered by the UPS. The key thing you want to make sure of is that they can all handle a 2-4 millisecond transfer time between utility power and battery, without dropping offline or rebooting. With the SUA3000XLI, that is the common transfer time. If they require something less, then you may want to look at an SURT3000XLI which has no transfer time.

We have now had two quotations for the APC solution returned however the additional battery packs specified are different by both suppliers. The two expansion batteries are SUA48XLBP and SUR192XLBP. Does anyone know what the difference is between these two (I presume one has a bigger capacity?) and is there any spec sheets on the APC website available? I found some info on the SUA48XLBP but not the SUR192XLBP.

Many thanks
