SUA1500 Will Not Turn On Question
Hello,
I have a number of SUA1500 units in service. One of them recently started in with the bad battery beep routine. After a while, the beeping quit. After a week or so the beeping returned and I noticed at that time that the portion of the UPS chassis that surrounds the battery was very warm. So, I ordered a new APC battery, installed it, and after hitting the power on switch, nothing happened.
I checked the ribbon cable from the front console module thinking it may be loose, however this unit apears to use a permanently soldered connection. I then pulled the battery out and measured voltage at the connector cable - just over 25 volts. Out of curiosity I checked the old battery - just over 12 volts, which suggests that one of what appears to be two coupled batteries is dead.
The bottom line is that I cannot get this unit to power on at all. I am wondering if possibly the heat from the failing battery may have damaged one or more components in the circuit module which resides above the battery (?) Before writing this unit off, I just wanted to check whether there is anything else worth trying.
Thank You for any info you can provide.

Looks like we may have a solution...
I gave the unit one last looking over and noticed that the metal connector tab, for the positive lead, on the gray plastic battery connector within the UPS, had partially backed out of the plastic housing. After a little fiddling around to get it back in place, I reconnected the battery and powered up successfully. All I can say is -add this to your list of things to check if you experience into the same problem.
Thank You
