Hello
We have an SRT10KXLI connected with 3 phases. Within 24h we receive the following messages over 100 times:
08/04/2015 09:30:39 Device UPS: No longer on battery power. 0x010A
08/04/2015 09:30:34 Device UPS: On battery power in response to frequency and phase difference. 0x0109
(Full Logfile attached)
Any idea what causes this, and how to solve this?
Thanks,
Marco

Can you provide the data.txt log too? This likely means you're having a problem with the input frequency an specifically an issue with your 3 phase input having a frequency or voltage difference (which is not good and why the UPS is going to battery power to protect your load). If we see the data log, we may be able to pinpoint exactly what is wrong with the reading.
Long story short, you'll need to investigate what the issue is with your 3 phase input power to the UPS.

Hi Marco,
I asked your local escalation support for help on the XLI model. What I was told was:
This message could be result of frequency drift or changes in the phase angle of the input sine wave. We see it usually last for 5 seconds, switching back online and few seconds later same thing again with 5 seconds. This could point out a rotor or kind of alternator interval..would be interesting to know what input they have. We would assume there is a genset connected to UPS input. Generators are not stable as utility power... thus, it might it produce regular noise and spike pulses on the input that causes the disturbances on the sinewave.
Would be good idea to get a full scope of the input.

Hi Angela
The bahavior of the unit is exactly as described in your post. But, we don't have a genset connected. The UPS is connected directly to the grid.

Can/did your electrician use an oscilliscope to look at the input power source feeding the UPS?

I have a three phase SRT 8000 which is having the same problems, and we too have also had an assessment of the input power undertaken by and electrician with no fault found at the main board coming into the site or at the sub board of our computer room.

I think what is missing here is a description of what an "assessment" of the power really means. Not many "electricians" choose to spend the $9,000+ for a "Fluke 435 Series II Power Quality and Energy Analyzer", which many would consider the flagship of power quality testing equipment. A $150 dollar phase sequence tester is not going to cut it.
There are companies that offer this type of professional service, but I'm sure it doesn't come cheap. The proper test equipment can be rented for a reasonable cost, but without the experience to use it properly, it might just be a waste of time and money.
If someone had a 3-input oscilloscope, and the experience to use it, you might find what you were looking for if you managed to monitor the power during one of the periods with a 5 second repetition rate. On the other hand, the logs show periods of hours without any issues.
Just my 2¢

Hi!
We have APC SRT8K model and when it have connected with 3 phases, we have the same problem.
Power line have tested with oscilloscope and no found problem.
In the result UPS is reconnect to one phase, then work fine.

Dear Angela,
Do you have any news about solution for improve stability work on three phase for SRT models ?
Now we used on one phase, but we have three phase and we hope in future switch from one phase to three.
In our SRT8K UPS firmware 4.03.
Thanks.

Hi All
I am also using the same UPS (SRT10KXLI) and have the same issue.
I can say someday we got some notification, but got nothing in another day.
We also got another message like:
UPS : Bypass not in range; high voltage.
UPS : Bypass not in range; low voltage.
I've another UPS (Smart-UPS RT 10000 RM XL, 3 phases), and never get similar notification from this UPS.
If anyone has solve this issue, please let me know.

Hello!
I tried to analyze with the problem in detail, since we have encountered similar cases again.
So, we have three phases connected at the input. It works normally from the network, it is worth switching to a generator, we encounter an error: On battery power in response to frequency and phase difference
As it turned out, the UPS cannot synchronize with the generator.
If the UPS is completely disabled and started cold while connected to a generator, the UPS will start to operate. But when switching to the network, we see a similar error: On battery power in response to frequency and phase difference
Local support say this to an issue with the frequency in the generator, but the strange thing is that older models with the same generator work fine.
As a solution, we transferred the UPS to a single-phase switching circuit, now the UPS is working normally both from the network and from the generator.
Is there any way to fix this behavior?
p.s. in the UPS we use firmware SRT1014UPS_05-2.
Thanks.
