Hi all,
We have a SRT10KXLI that has been moved about different sites and needs reconfiguring. Of course, we start with the serial cable. However, this is what we have encountered: -
1. We do not have access via apc/apc but device/apc works.
2. The status LED flashes amber/green normal when searching via Boot/DHCP and stays green when it gets an IP.
3. Very oddly, the reset button appears to do nothing. EDITED to add that i tested the button with a continuity meter and it does physically work.
4. Holding down the reset button for 20 seconds does nothing. NO visible difference with LEDs.
5. Pressing the reset button briefly to then press again when there is a changing LED pattern does nothing (there is no change in the flashing).
6. Serial connection works fine and we can access the console via device/apc
7. We cannot change the admin password because the reset button process does not temporarily default the credentials to begin.
8. We do not seem to be able to access the Boot Monitor.
9. we tried accessing via FTP but the device/apc permissions are insufficient to make the required changes. Same for the firmware wizard. Console does not expose the admin commands for the same reason.
10. We tried flashing via the USB port but there appears to be no activity on the USB drive.
All appearances indicate that the device works. It loads into the WebGUI and we can access it via the device/apc credentials - all appears fine. What i understand is that the embedded card is an AP9537SUM which is the same as the AP963x series of NMC2. None of the standard tricks for the AP963x appear to work on the AP9537SUM. The card is running AOS 6.2.1.
Our other NMCs (standalone cards however) do not exhibit this behaviour so is this normal for the embedded AP9537SUM?
Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed?
Cheers
Pops

Ok, problem solved.
For reference, it was a hardware fault, specifically a broken solder joint on the network board. One of my earlier tests was to check continuity across the reset button but this passed. Examining further and having followed a number of the traces on the 'embedded' card in the area of reset button led me to a bad solder which was meant to be connected to ground. It must have broken in transit.
Mine was a unique case so I've circled the affected area in the image below should anyone else come across the same situation and were going potty figuring out what was happening.
