SRT10K - which battery is which? Internal Battery Pack 2

Good day all,

I have an SRT10K with extra battery backs - and I've received a warning that the "Internal battery pack" (or "near end of life - 02, 02" on the front LED panel)

NMC Battery status warning:

  • Battery near end of life. Order replacement battery, APCRBC140, for the internal pack, cartridge 1.
  • Battery near end of life. Order replacement battery, APCRBC140, for the internal pack, cartridge 2.

There are 4 physical batteries in the "internal" section - so I replaced the pair on the left, as the 2 arrow indicates.

Are those cartridges 1 & 2? But in NMC there's only 2 listed - not 4.

JWCCC_0-1758555093000.png

Does it mean all 4 need to be replaced soon (expected) - or just #2?

I'm confused by the LED panel warning - feels very specific to pack-pair 2, so that's what I replaced.

Well, it says "The UPS may not immediately report that a battery cartridge has been disconnected". I didn't expect it to fail to detect hours later.

The good news is, it was detected when it performed a self-check.

Disconnect the RBC pairs and monitor via LCD / NMC. It will tell you which pair is missing.

Unfortunately, with low load it may not. Known issue.

If you disconnect the RBC pairs the system will declare a battery fault. Using the LCD Panel / NMC you can see this.

At that point you’ll know which module requires a RBC replacement.

I’m assuming the RBC date is incorrect otherwise why wouldn’t you refer to that also??

RBC date is correct - as it was confirmed/set when it was installed.   Not sure why or how that would tell me if it was all OEM and all dates are same.

I will try the removal method, but longer, and see it it flags - because when I swapped out #2 for new ones - it did not indicate battery was removed.

Show me the battery tab via NMC for both RBC.  Provide a screen capture from the NMC under About for both UPS / NMC.

If the RBC are the original ones from the factory that were installed. Than the error declared for an end of life (EOL) RBC applies to all four cartridges.

Meaning all four must be replaced . . .

The average service life is 2-5 years based on usage, temperature, and environmental conditions. The cells are designed to endure 260 full cycles before signs of degradation.

When the RBC’s are disconnected the system will declare a battery disconnected / missing fault / error.

Wait for this to happen before you proceed. Once that message appears you would install the new RBC and connect the Anderson connectors.

At that point the system will prompt you to confirm if this is a new RBC. Toggle from No to Yes and enter than enter the month and year of the installation date.

Next manually initiate a self test and let pass and wait for the RBC’s to return to 100% SOC.

Complete the procedure by manually initiating a Battery Calibration with a minimum of 30% attached load or greater.

Once this procedure has completed allow the RBC’s to recover to 100% SOC. This will insure the LCD, NMC, SNMP, Power Chute will more accurately reflect the operational runtime of the system.

I've disconnected the battery - and an hour later, still no warning.

I am aware of the general useful life - I'm not surprised it's come throwing the warning.

I disconnected the UPS around 10:15am.  As of these screenshots at 11am, it has not detected its removal.

I believe this is the cause: SRT Battery Detection | Schneider Electric Australia (though I'm not in AUS)

Internal pack page: (I haven't set the date yet, because I haven't determined for sure, which it was)
