I recently purchased this UPS and I am having issues getting started with it. Whenever I try to turn on the outlet power it starts very briefly before stopping with the small screen saying Output power off: By software. I checked the logs and I also had a transfer event saying Last transfer: Distorted input and Protocol command.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks and regards,
Greg

Hello,
Do you have a network card installed in the UPS? Do you have a USB cable or Serial cable attached? Have you tried to reset the UPS?
For SMC, SMT, SMX, and SRT Units to reset:
1) Turn off and unplug UPS from wall
2) Disconnect Battery
3) You may hear an audible "click" from the UPS.
4) Reconnect battery, plug unit back in the wall, and turn UPS back on

Hi Bill, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I do not believe there is a network card installed. It is connected by ethernet cable to my home LAN. I have tried to reset the UPS back to factory defaults. I've also carried out the reset you describe above with no success. It certainly seems the UPS is shutting off the outputs as if it is being told to do this by software but as there is no network card I find this strange as it could only be the internal controls doing this.
Thanks for your help.
Greg

Hi,
Did you plug your LAN into the port on the back of the UPS labeled Serial? If so that can cause the UPS to act up. The UPS will have 2 built in ports. One for serial com that looks like RJ45 and one USB.

Thanks Bill.
Removing the LAN cable did the trick.
Best regards,
Greg
