I Just installed the SMX750 connected to my Synology DS2413+ network server. I connected the two via USB cable. Installed powerchute business edition on my Windows 7 Professional pc. Software sees my pc with no ups installed. i cant seem to connect w the Synology Or the ups.
oh, and the ups is connected onto the network, though I do not have the a optional card installed
any suggestions?

I'm guessing Jeff plugged an Ethernet cable into the Serial+USB port since they're both RJ45.

You need to remove the Synology DS2413 USB connection from the UPS, connect the Windows 7 system via USB directly to the UPS, then install PowerChute Business Edition on to the Windows 7 system.
Not sure I understand this comment, "oh, and the ups is connected onto the network, though I do not have the a optional card installed" The SMX750 needs a network management card installed to be accessible via the network. The part number for the available network cards are AP9630 and AP9631 UPS Network Management Cards - Product Information
