SMX1500RM2U Modbus Support (Firmware 3.8)

I have an SMX1500 (specifically part no. SMX1500RM2U) which shows as having firmware version 3.8 installed. I understand that this model/firmware combination should support Modbus communication, but there is no option in the Advanced front-panel menus to enable Modbus.

When I run the Firmware Upgrade Wizard, it says that this model's firmware is upgradeable, but then it goes on to tell me that the firmware version AFTER the upgrade will be 3.8. So, I have the following questions:

Should there be an Advanced menu option to enable Modbus on this model/firmware combination?
If so, why is it missing?
Do I need to run the Firmware Upgrade Wizard to enable Modbus even though it tells me the unit is already at FW 3.8?

Just to add to what Bill said - while Modbus is not natively supported on SMX's, Modbus TCP is supported on those models using the AP9630 and any firmware revision greater than v6.4.0. Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Modbus is support on most SMT and SRT model Smart-UPS. It is not supported on SMX model units at this time.

See Application Note 176 for more information.

Thank you for the clarification. I must have misread the doc that I thought said the SMX units had Modbus.
