I have an SMX1500RMI2U + 1x SMX48RMBP2U. It's currently backing up a home theatre system that draws no more than 250W. I based my purchase on the runtime chart of the product site suggesting that at this load, I should be getting around 3 hours of runtime. When the unit arrived 6 months ago, I was getting almost exactly that. Now, I'm barely getting 2 hours. I understand that the runtime chart isn't a set of hard and fast rules. But a 1 hour delta seems a bit much. Any ideas what the problem could be ? It's happy with its own self test
Firmware : 09.8 ID:20
Local Power Quality set to Poor to maximise runtime

Hi Voidstar
I appreciate the comeback. I managed to contact APC via the website and they've graciously agreed to swop out the unit. I used the same description of the problem ( as above ) and added only the serial number of unit. So there must be an issue with a batch or thereabouts

I don't know if 3hr -> 2hr decline in runtime over a year is typical -- maybe someone else can chime in.
Just wanted to say that batteries are a consumable. The more often and deeper they are discharged, the shorter the runtime will be. Discharging every day, for instance, will quickly ruin them. On the other hand, runtime is estimated based on discharge so if you haven't discharged the battery much, you may need to do a runtime calibration to get a more accurate estimate.
