I have a SMX1500VA that after initially logging in and setting the password the password that was recorded did not work.
I have tried multiple factory resets by various methods noted (including 'brain dead' the UPS) and whilst it reboots it still will not accept the default password.
Any ideas as to what to try?
I tried to raise a support case and they directed me here.

I’m going to assume you’re talking about the password to access the internal webpage of the NMC.
A Brain Dead reset procedure has no impact on the NMC. Format the NMC by pressing and holding the reset button for 20+ seconds than release.
Let the NMC complete the format process (approximately 1 minute) than find the IP Address of the NMC through your router / firewall.

Worked a treat.
Needed to enter boot command but solved the issue.
Thanks for your help.
