SMT3000RMI2U - Fan and noise

In my office I have 3 SUA1500I and they are very silent. The fans are active only when the ups is on battery.
Now I would buy a new SMT3000RMI2U (rack mount) and place it in the same room. Is it silent during operation? Is the fan active only on battery or is it always on?

I am not sure but you can call APC at 1-800-555-2725

Hi bieci, there are a few reason as to why the fan would kick on for a smart ups unit the most common one being the unit is discharging on battery. Under normal operation it should be relatively silent.
