Purchased new 3-31-11 and delivered early April. Upon receipt I did have some difficulty in getting it to recognize the battery. Kept nagging to install battery even though it was indeed installed. I'm not sure how I got it to go, but eventually I did and it seemed to go fine. Today it started beeping and nagging to replace battery. I have powered down to "brain dead" and checked cable connections etc so I am guessing the battery may well be defective. I have not inspected battery beyond the cable that is accessible behind the front access.
Any suggestions on what to try?
I have a digital VOM and assume the next logical step would be to unplug the battery and measure both battery voltage and voltage on the supply cable to see if the charging is working?
I do not run any software like Power Chute at present. Just looking for simple, reliable power.

Can you tell us what indicator you are seeing infront of the UPS when it beeps?
I would also suggest you to have install the software for gracefull shutdown and additional monitoring.
