Someone just sold me a SMT1500J and assured me it would operate fine at 120v. Well, as you probably know and now I do, this is not the case. The upper threshold is maxed at 114v so it will not kick over to AC, only stay on battery (which was charged). Two things, one - can I change this from accessing the console via hyperterminal? Two - can I upload a SMT1500 firmware to the unit to make this work at 120v (assuming the internals are the same)? I know the firmware file is the same file which means it would take quite a bit of effort to make it think it is not a J model but I'd appreciate any insight.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi,
Sorry to say updating the firmware will not resolve the issue. You should return the unit and get your money back.

Thanks Bill. Fortunately got them to take it back this morning. Have a 120v on its way. Much appreciated.
