The buzzing begins at 00:13 seconds: Issues with SMT1500 (09/15/14) - YouTube (video). It's actually quite noticeable and annoying. If I unplug the unit from the wall, which triggers the unit to switch to the battery, the noise will cease. Has anyone else had this issue? What was the cause and, if any, solution?
I don't have this issue with my SUA2200RM2U or SMT2200 tower. I hope that I don't have this issue with the SMT2200RM2U that I just ordered.
Thank you.

Thanks Angela. Who do I contact about this? Is there a phone number that I can call to inquire about the warranty?

So, did the buzzing just develop over time recently? I had made the assumption that it was new but I am not sure if you used it for a while, and then stored it, then took it out again?
The warranty is based on the manufacture date + 3 months to allow for distribution, etc. If you have a proof of purchase that puts your actual purchase closer to this month two years ago, we could honor that for you and adjust the warranty dates.

Hello,
In reviewing this, the location is a possibility - meaning it could be caused by some other load on the circuit or by an upstream transformer. Are you able to try it on a different circuit - or are you saying the SUA and SMT2200 on the same circuit don't do it (didn't know if they were at the same physical location).
Also, it might be worth noting if its boosting/trimming when it makes the humming sound. Assuming it's not, it's probably just a (slightly) noisy cap. It won't affect the lifespan of the UPS or anything like that. You could try turning off green mode and see if that affects it. I believe you can try doing that by the front LCD or via a Network Management Card (with v6 firmware) or PowerChute if the option is not on the LCD.
Beyond that the only other option is RMA, which may or may not improve the situation.

The SMT2200 tower is on the same circuit and makes no such noise - either while charging or while charged. I'd like to RMA it, because quite frankly it's a distraction in my office, but unfortunately my warranty expired April of this year - just checked using the online APC tool. I had it stored, powered off, in another room and noticed the issue when I brought it out for use recently.
