Hi Community Support team,
We need to monitor APC UPS SMC1500I-2UC within our LAN. We are the managed services provider for the local airport.
We need to know if the UPS has a local web interface like other APC models. It seems that it does not.
We connect UPS to the network but it does not pick an IP from our DHCP.
Our research on the APC website is leading us to believe that this model does not have a local web interface and only way to monitor device is through an internet connection then using smartconnect service.
We donβt want that. We want to monitor device within our clientβs network infrastructure.
How can we achieve that with this model? Connecting UPS network port to our LAN and we donβt see the device. Also, thereβs no configuration options with the current deviceβs firmware.
Your answer will affect our clientβs decision in the purchase of a new batch for the airportβs terminal expansion.

There is currently no method to have direct access, control, management via the LAN. The closest thing you have is PCSS / PCNS / PCBE if supported via USB / Network.
The client should have asked and done more thorough research as to the different hardware offerings from APC.
Along with what types of network connectivity is available locally on a specific UPS under consideration. The SMC Series does not incorporate a NMC whether embedded or add on.
The SMT, SMX, SRT Series UPS do have NMC (Network Management Card) support. As do other APC products in their line such as lithium based.
One thing to note and call out is that even a NMC enabled system can be tied to the Smart Connect portal service! βοΈ
This is a paid subscription service which will put you in the exact same spot as the SMC.
If your client wants local first vs cloud first do not install the Secure Network firmware on to their NMC!
If you have more questions please do ask. π
