SMART-UPS 2200 - Warning State: Connect Battery
We have 6 identical SMART-UPS 2200 units purchased about 6 months ago.
After a power failure about 1 month ago, 1 unit (Mdl: SMT2200 / SN: JS1009016871) started beeping about 5 minutes after power restored. LCD display on the unit displayed "Warning State: Connect Battery". The Replace Battery indicator was also flashing.
Power failure lasted several hours; connected equipment was powered down and UPS powered down when battery level reached approximately 40%. Load on the UPS is approximately 36%, as reported by front panel.
Powered down equipment connected to UPS, powered down UPS, then disconnected and reconnected the battery.
Upon power up, all was good.
About 2 hours ago, the UPS started beeping again, and is again showing "Warning State: Connect Battery". (No power outage - just started on its own.)
I have just completed a full power down, re-seated the battery connector, and started up the UPS. LCD panel showed battery at 85%; Self-Test ran and passed. Powered back up connected equipment; UPS ran for about 5 minutes, then started beeping and displaying "Warning State: Connect Battery".
Am I missing something, or do I have a problem with this unit?

Yes, when the unit was first installed, battery charged to 100%. During the last power outage, about a month ago, which lasted about 5 hours, when the battery had dropped to about 40%, and still no ETA when power would be restored, I powered down connected equipment; then turned off the UPS.
After power was restored, and I powered on the UPS, after about 5 minutes I got the warning message. I powered back down the UPS, (which had been charging up to that point) and reseated the battery connector. After power up, all was good on the UPS, and I brought connected equipment back on-line.
The latest incident occurred at about 10pm, with no change in environment (no power drops, etc.). I followed the same procedure as above, but could not get the unit to recognize the battery. Finally about 1am just went home, and left the unit alone.
Next morning when I checked, front LCD display was asking if new battery was installed. I answered 'No', and it has been fine for the last 2 days.
So - unit is okay now (until the next time it thinks no battery is connected).
I'm trying to determine whether I've got a bad unit, bad battery (doubtful, since it carries a load fine), or something else going on.
